Museums: A visit to Belgium would not be complete without taking a tour of the country's famous museums. Belgium was the birthplace of a number of famous artist throughout the ages and The Country's many museums house these famous artworks. The spectacular Musees Royaux des Beaux Arts de Belgique (Royal Museums of Fine Arts) in Brussles is divided in to two sections The Museum d'Art Ancien and the Musee d'Art Moderne. Both sections are large and will need a full days visit to enjoy the artworks on display. Famous artist's works such as Pieter Brugel the Elder and Rubens can be enjoyed. There is also a large collection of works by the Belgian surrealists. The Koninkliijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten (Royal Museum of Fine Arts) in Antwerp hosts a wealth of artworks by Jan Van Eyck, Rubens and Rene Magritte. For something a little bit different head to the Museum vor Fotografie, located to the west of the Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp. The museum houses a complete history of the development of the camera. The Museum Plantin Moretus, which is also in Antwerp, is dedicated to the foundation of the printing press and the Gutenberg Bible is one of its rare exhibits.
